Durga Prasad Prasai was arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) on Tuesday from his residence in Bhaktapur.

Nepal Police response

Nepal Police CIB spokesperson Habindra Bogati confirmed Prasai’s arrest, stating that he was charged under the Electronic Transactions Act, 2008 that prohibits electronic dissemination of material that may harm public morality or spread hate or jealousy. The police claim Prasai’s accusations lacked verification and amounted to defamation and public harm.
